Front-end engineering completed on the Sahil Petrochemical Complex
FEED for the 1.6 Mtpa complex at Duqm closed in June against a Class 2 estimate, moving the joint venture to a targeted investment decision in the second quarter of 2027.
Falaj Energy has completed front-end engineering design for the Sahil Petrochemical Complex at Duqm, closing the phase on schedule with a Class 2 cost estimate and a confirmed cracker configuration.
The complex will convert ethane and propane — much of it currently burned as fuel gas — into 1.6 million tonnes a year of polyethylene and polypropylene for regional manufacturers. Forty per cent of its 220 MW power demand is contracted from solar under a long-term power purchase agreement.
Falaj acts as technical partner to the joint venture, with a scope covering process selection, the front-end design, utilities and offsites, and owner's engineering through commissioning. Final investment decision is targeted for the second quarter of 2027.
