First steel set for the second processing train at Al Nakhil

Construction of the 20,000 bopd second train has begun, part of the Phase II development lifting the field to 45,000 barrels a day.

Structural steel has been set for the second processing train at Al Nakhil, marking the start of major construction on the field's Phase II development.

Phase II adds 24 infill producers and 14 water injectors, a second 20,000 barrel-a-day train, and produced-water treatment and reinjection capacity of 120,000 barrels a day. It also compresses associated gas 41 km to the Rish Dune plant, removing around 90 per cent of the field's routine flaring.

First oil from Phase II is forecast for the third quarter of 2027.
